forest of dean
The Forest of Dean has a long and fascinating history having been reserved for royal hunting before the Norman Conquest. It remains one of the largest crown forests in England. Man has lived in the forest for thousands of years and has left his mark with hill forts and standing stones through out the area. A hugely important area during the industrial revolution with pioneering manufacturing methods of iron and steel. Today the forest is peaceful, offering fantastic walking and an expansive wealth of flora and fauna.
In the Forest Of Dean we run guided walks covering Prehistory and Roman, Industrial Heritage and General History. We also offer Navigation courses.
